CEBU EASTERN COLLEGE HISTORY
CEBU CHINESE SCHOOL (now Cebu Eastern College) located on Dimasalang St. corner Leon Kilat St., Cebu City. Also known as Tiong Hua High School or Tiong Huan Tiong Oh, this school was destroyed during World War II. Founded in 1915, Cebu Eastern College (CEC) is the 4TH OLDEST EXISTING CHINESE SCHOOL in the Philippines. Its roots can be traced to Cebu Chinese School, and the subsequent merging with Cebu Sun Yat Sen High School which was founded in 1925; the school was born as the Cebu Chinese High School. In 1950, the high school earned government recognition as a non-sectarian school, opening its doors to students regardless of nationality and religion. In 1962, the Chinese High School began developing its college department and was thus renamed to "Cebu Eastern College".
